June 3rd Child Identification Event to Honor Missing Teen

A Help Find a Child Identification Event will be held at Polk Elementary school, Cedar Rapids, on Friday June 3, 2005 from 11:30 AM to 1:15 PM.

Thanks to Rob Wilson, State Farm Insurance, an estimated 200 participating staff and students will receive a free laminated Identification card with their photo, fingerprint and other important information.  A personal DNA collection kit will be provided to all participants courtesy of The Traveler’s Protective Association of America.  Members of the Metro High School Service Learning Program will assist in the I.D. processing.

A Balloon release ceremony, sponsored by Michael’s Arts & Crafts and Airgas, is scheduled for 12:45 PM to commemorate the 4th anniversary of the disappearance of missing teen, Erin Pospisil.

The event is organized by Help Find a Child, a non-profit organization, founded by the family of Erin Pospisil after her disappearance on June 3, 2001.  Erin was 15 at the time of her disappearance.  She would be 19 today and is still missing. Polk Elementary school was selected for the event because Erin was last seen in the Polk neighborhood.

Help Find a Child’s mission is to educate the public about missing people, and work for prevention by promoting child safety and identification. Help Find a Child organizes awareness activities including Child Identification events at malls, churches and schools in Iowa and Nebraska.
